WEST TEXAS WATERCOLOR SOCIETY
The West Texas Watercolor Society was instituted to provide an opportunity for the interchange of ideas among persons interested in all forms of water media, to promote the highest aesthetic standards in the art of watercolor, and to provide civic, cultural, and educational support for the medium. The Society was organized in 1962 and granted a formal charter by the State of Texas on November 13, 1979.
Commemorating 100 years of women’s suffrage, 2020 is by all accounts and purposes, the Year of the Woman. That theme is reflected not only in the artwork, but also in the artists themselves. In addition to women dominating the subject matter, female artists created over 85% of the show’s entries.
