As the story goes, on August 25, 1951 around 9:20PM, a group of university scientists from Texas Technical College we’re hanging out in a backyard drinking tea and chatting about micrometeorites. What they witnessed that night was something otherworldly in the expansive Texas sky: a V-shaped formation of 15-30 bluish-green lights passing over head.

This strange phenomena would continue over a period of 2 weeks capturing the attention of hundreds of residents and soon the government. This story would later become known as the Lubbock Lights phenomena and has yet to be solved. This iconic local mystery has inspired the branding behind one of our legendary beers, Lubbock Light.

We want to continue to hear all of the stories, recollections, and even opinions on what the Lubbock Lights were and see if we could see it for ourselves. Join us on August 20th for our annual Lubbock Lights celebration and Lights Out Party!

The party kicks off with LIGHTS OUT on the patio just after dusk at 9:00PM with live music! There will be limited glow sticks available to help you shine, and you’re encouraged to bring your best outfit for our Alien themed party!
