ASM Global has an opening for a full-time staff accountant to join our team at The Buddy Holly Hall in Lubbock Texas.  The staff accountant will be under the direct supervision of the Director of Facility Accounting.  Join the team at Lubbock’s brand new, state-of-the art performance venue.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Major Responsibilities

The Staff Accountant plays an important role in the daily functions of the Buddy Holly Hall’s Finance Department.  The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to general accounting functions, financial reporting and analysis, event settlements, A/R and A/P processing, cost accounting, asset controls, month/year-end close processing as well as other various administrative and departmental functions.

Perform month and year-end duties including accounting close processing and adhering to deadlines.

Preparation and input of journal entries into the accounting software.

Maintain balance sheet records.

Perform account analysis and reconciliation.

Prepares and enters deposits into the General Ledger.

Assists with the year end audit.  Performs cash audits.

Prepares and analyzes information for financial statements and reports.

Prepares accounting data, settlements, and journal entry for events.

Prepares and performs bank reconciliations and reconciles cash receipts and disbursements.

Reviews and analyses prepaid accounts.

Prepares and files sales tax reports.

Reconciles the box office department’s activity.

Process accounts payable, accounts receivable and cash receipts.

Serve as point of contact for vendors and internal clients for inquiries related to accounts payable activity.

Ensure that invoices are paid timely and accurately.  Request W-9 and vendor information for new vendor maintenance.

The staff accountant will also be responsible for learning how to prepare the bi-weekly payroll calculation on ADP Enterprise EV5.  This will include entering new employees, calculating and entering hours, and completing the payroll cycle bi-weekly.

Continually update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and utilizing training for current and proposed software.

Apply a positive, proactive work ethic while showing tact, discretion and good judgment in handling sensitive and confidential matters and documentation.

All other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting Preferred

 

Essential Skills and Experience:

2 years-experience with the Sage 50 or Peachtree Accounting System or another similar system, including booking journal entries and preparing financials

Advanced knowledge and experience with Microsoft 365 including Excel

Experience in processing Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable

Strong attention to detail is required

Strong interpersonal skills/Drive to take on challenges

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve problems and discrepancies

Excellent organizational and communication skills

Experience in general ledger accounting support

Thorough knowledge of financial and cost accounting

Excellent math skills and attention to details

Effective communication, interpersonal and organizational skills required

Ability to interact with all levels of staff, management, the board, and clients

Ability to function independently with minimal supervision

Possess a high level of self-motivation and taking pride in his or her work

 

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have extensive knowledge and experience with accounting software, payroll software, Excel and word processing software.

The position requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time, regularly move around the large facility, stand for long hours during events, talk and hear.  The position also requires the ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

 

Work Environment
