Position Description

Produces television or radio programs. May supervise other personnel. May be required to possess a valid driver’s license. Incumbent may be required to operate a vehicle from the TTU/TTUHSC motor pool to perform the job.

Major/Essential Functions

  • Produces multi-platform stories as assigned by the News Director; reports stories in appropriate forms for digital, radio and TV broadcast.
  • Hosts and produces morning newscast each weekday.
  • Guide all projects through the production process to meet deadline, budget, quality and distribution requirements.
  • Select and research topics; contact and interview sources, maintain notes & recordings, write and edit reports, produce content for distribution.
  • Proactively participates in the creative cycle of story and program origination with reporters, supervisor, and other producers.
  • Develops pitches and story ideas as needed.
  • Builds out playlists in the automation system.

Required Qualifications

Two or more years education or training beyond high school with emphasis on professional video production or related area plus two years experience in a video/multimedia environment; OR a combination of education and/or experience to equal four years.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of media production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods. Understand video pre-production, production, and post production, audio recording, DSLR and video camera shooting, current media trends, and current methods of production and storytelling. Understanding and implementing NPR and PBS’ mission to help educate, inform, and enlighten viewers. Adobe creative cloud suite experience, 1-2 years of radio, television, film, or digital production experience. 1-2 years of NPR or PBS production experience, adobe creative cloud suite experience, 2-3 years of radio, television, film, or digital production experience.

Occasional Duties

Planning and coordinating technical production work. May assist faculty and staff in integrating educational plans into effective teaching content. Attends meetings and is responsible for appropriate record-keeping, correspondence, phone calls, supplies and equipment. May be asked to participate in station membership campaigns and community-building events.
