Please mark your calendars for East Lubbock Art House’s ART IS FOR EVERYONE art show and art competition featuring the works of incarcerated artists.

The event will be Friday, January 9th at 6 p.m. FIRST EVENT OF THE YEAR!

We have about 30+ folks who are the most excited for this opportunity. None of them will be able to attend the opening reception BUT need community members to show up the artists.

We can share with them videos and photos of the reception and art show. So we need as many people to show up to continue to share the message that it’s always CARE over CAGES!

I think this art show deserves a packed house! It deserves for everyone in the community that beloved in the rehabilitation and reconciliation to achieve a more just society to show up.

If there’s any event or reason to come to ELAH in 2026– this should be it.

I think this show is so important because our challenges dominant narratives about crime, worth, and redemption.

Research consistently shows that creative programs in detention: reduce isolation and depression, improve emotional regulation and self-reflection, build skills connected to communication and problem-solving, support reentry by restoring confidence and purpose.

The incarcerated individuals can’t receive compensation directly BUT they can receive professional arts education. So of you if feel like helping us bringing art classes to the Lubbock County Detention Center help us make a difference
