JONATHAN JIMENEZ: “The Nail Thought Twice – (The Instinctual Mind in Making)”

MFA Lecture

This talk traces the space between control and accident, between what I plan and what my pieces decide for me. My work begins in motion: lifting, tying, hammering, dragging. Instinct shapes the outcome long before thought catches up. These sculptures aren’t proofs; they’re evidence, of labor, of attention, of small decisions made faster than language. The Nail Thought Twice looks at what happens when the body leads, and the mind learns to follow.
