Artist in Residence
In keeping with our commitment to foster international dialogue about contemporary art within Texas, Artpace San Antonio is pleased to host an open call for submissions by Texas artists for consideration in Artpace’s 2022 International Artist-in-Residence program.
The mission of Artpace’s International Artist-in-Residence program is to provide artists from various disciplines with unparalleled resources and support that allows them to experiment with new ideas and take provocative risks. An Artpace residency includes travel expenses, a living stipend, a materials budget, an apartment, and studio/exhibition space. Resident artists have access to fully equipped wood and metal workshops and a digital media studio, in addition to technical and administrative support. The eight-week residency culminates in a two-month exhibition of new work at Artpace, celebrated through a public exhibition opening and artist talk.
The Texas Open Call opportunity is only available to artists currently living and working in Texas. Artists must have been living in Texas for at least one year at the time of application. With the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and resulting shutdown, Artpace is waiving the $15 application fee to the 2022 Texas Open Call in recognition of any financial hardships experienced by artists.
More information can be found at artpace.org and artists may apply online at AnyArtist.org.
As we navigate the COVID-19 pandemic, we are reminded of the unprecedented challenges artists are facing today. In order to ease any additional stress and to ensure we reach as many artists across the state as possible, Artpace has decided to extend the Texas Open Call one month. Applications are now due on Friday, September 18, 2020 at 5pm CST.
