Join us for a gallery talk and demonstration featuring Von Venhuizen, Associate Professor of Art – Ceramics at Texas Tech and internationally exhibited artist. In conjunction with the current exhibition Lunar Embrace: Korean Ceramics and Paintings by Tae Keun Yoo.
Von Venhuizen is an Associate Professor of Art – Ceramics at Texas Tech University. Von is a motorcycle riding, Chupacabra hunting, Armadillo master that loves to play with mud and fire to create ceramic sculptures and pottery. He is a Nationally and Internationally exhibited artist, contributing to the ongoing and evolving world of ceramics. He has also established a commendable reputation in Kiln Design and Construction, Architectural Ceramics, Ceramic Production Design, Ceramic RAM Press methods, Slip Casting, Mold Making and Wheel Throwing. Venhuizen’s work has been included in over 125 exhibitions since 1993. He has designed and built kilns for numerous universities and ceramic artists in the United States, and his pieces have been published in numerous books and periodicals. Private collectors, universities, and museums have all collected his artwork. Von is currently the 3D Area Representative for the Texas Tech University, School of Art. He aided in the designing and building of the new Ceramics Facility in the TTU 3D-Art Annex.
