Position Description

Designs, implements and manages an assigned program. Typical duties can include but are not limited to: Identify funding opportunities, conduct program assessments, prepare program reports, oversee and manage program marketing and communications, manage program databases, supervise program staff, plan research activities, coordinate program events, participate in strategic planning, manage program files, establish program standards and objectives, direct logistical activities to promote the success of programs, develop and implement project timelines and ensures deadlines are met, oversee program budget, ensure goals and objectives of grants are met, assists in proposal writing, comply and analyze program statistics.

About the Department and/or College

The National Ranching Heritage Center is an outdoor museum dedicated to preserving and interpreting the history of ranching in North America.

Major/Essential Functions

The Program manager assists the Executive Director and the Director of Business Development and Marketing to execute the National Ranching Heritage Center Annual Plan and business processes. The Program Manager focuses on managing the Ranching Heritage Association membership management process and database, ensures that membership records are accurate and that membership renewals and communication is timely, accurate and meaningful. In addition, the Program Manager is the “chief scheduler” of the National Ranching Heritage Center and ensures the master calendar is updated, accurate and communicated to the appropriate shareholders and/or staff. The Program Manager works with the Director of Business Development and Marketing to provide outstanding stewardship and follow-up to established donors. Finally, the Program Manager assists with administrative duties, as needed by the NRHC staff, including coordinating travel, mailings, email deliveries and web site updates.

Essential Job Functions

  • Manages the Ranching Heritage Association membership database and business processes, including membership and donor solicitations, renewals and web form updates. The Program Manager ensures that database records are updated and accurate.
  • Works with the Director of Business Development and Marketing to meet annual fundraising goals and deepen connections through effective donor stewardship and potential donor identification and qualification.
  • Works with the Director of Business Development and Marketing and other members of the NRHC team to execute NRHC annual giving initiatives, Texas Tech University annual giving initiatives, and other strategic giving opportunities.
  • As the keeper of the National Ranching Heritage Center calendar, schedules school and group tours and works with the NRHC Programs Manager and Director of Operations on scheduling and coordinating rentals and events.
  • Serves as the liaison to the Ranch Host Association and works to update the volunteer database and schedule volunteers for programs, service and events.
  • Works with NRHC Business Manager to serve as the backup for Texas Tech University processes (employee verification, driver approvals, inventory maintenance and supplies).
  • Performs critical administrative role in coordinating/scheduling meetings with donors, coordinating travel for NRHC staff, RHA officers and guests.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and four years of experience developing or managing programs or projects. Additional job related experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
