We’re looking for an additional team member here at Unity in Glass. This particular position is for a glass studio apprentice. Glass blowing experience isn’t necessarily required, but other experience or interests that may translate well, will be considered. The following link is to the PDF of the proposal.

Glass Studio Apprentice

As we continue to grow, we are selectively recruiting team members to join us. We are focused on

We are an ecommerce-based art studio focused on creating a series of thoughtfully designed production
glass art pieces.

Ideal Candidate for our glass studio apprentice:
 An individual that seeks a career in art and glass
 Detail oriented, patient, and organized
 Calm, level-headed, safe, and mindful of their surroundings and co-workers
 Excellent verbal and written communications
 Punctual and reliable
 Mindful of social distancing recommendations at work, and outside of work, during the
pandemic. We are very protective of our current team.

Experience:
 Stable work history over the last 5 years
 Work-history or hobbies requiring attention to detail, organization, hand-eye
coordination, ability to follow direction and abide by safety protocols. Experience or
interest in the following, may help translate into a studio apprentice. Flame-working
experience, metal/welding, working in an industrial manufacturing setting, etc.
 Glass blowing experience preferred
 Familiarity with computer and software, e-commerce, and writing is a plus

Benefits:
 $12-16, depending upon experience and skill level
 90-day probationary period
 Accrued Paid Time Off after 90 days. 1 week available during first year (sick
time/vacation time)
 30 hours per week target. May vary, each week.
 Paid holidays off

Job Duties and individual requirements:
 Assist our team of glassblowers at the bench. Being critically mindful of a safe working
environment. Anticipate the next steps in the glassblowing process and plan/assist
accordingly.
 Inability to work as team member in a safe environment is grounds for dismissal.
 Cold working using diamond lapidary equipment. This requires incredible patience and
attention to detail.
 Help our customer service team during peak times, to answer emails and calls from clients
with a positive, upbeat, professional manner that is reflective of our company culture.
 Ability to lift 50 pounds, repetitively
 Great hand-eye coordination
 Assist with preparing the studio for glass blowing, clean up, organization. Furnace charging
 Must be willing and capable of wearing a safety particulate mask during particular tasks
 Packing/boxing/shipping
 A non-disclosure agreement and non-compete document will be required
 Willing to be creative and work individually and as a team to improve us as a company
 Ability to work in a hot environment

Lubbock Texas is home to Texas Tech University and a growing population of 261,000. It is more of a
quiet town than a larger metropolitan area. Housing and cost of living are more affordable that most
towns. Traffic is light, which makes it quite easy to live here. Texas Tech University, while not offering
programs in glass, does have a robust School of Art with BFA and MFA opportunities.
