Summary

Work with City Department web editors on content for the mylubbock.us website, including text, graphics, design, video, and layout of pages. Collaborate with the City’s Information Technology Department on more complex design requests when needed. Assist in the creation of content for the City’s PEG (Public, Education, and Government) Channel and social media content, including pictures, videos, and graphics, for the City’s main social media channels and for department specific channels.

 

Essential Functions

  • Utilize a Content Management System (CMS) to help create, update, and monitor content on the mylubbock.us website;
  • Consistently create and update content on digital boards in Citizens Tower;
  • Direct and record videos for the mylubbock.us website that can be integrated with other platforms, including the City of Lubbock’s PEG (Public, Education, and Government) Channel and social media sites;
  • Analyze statistical data from a variety of communication tools, including City the mylubbock.us website and City social media sites;
  • Shoot still photographs and/or video of events and individuals or groups, either in studio or on location;
  • Assist other City Departments with their social media sites;
  • Support City Departments in crisis management;
  • Help develop departmental policies and protocols;
  • Assist in coordinating in-person events;
  • Set up for events;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in mass communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field with an additional three years or more experience in public affairs, media relations, marketing, social media, and graphic design; or any combination of relevant education and experience that provides the following:

Valid Current Driver’s License

 

Knowledge and Abilities

Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Adobe Premiere, Photoshop;
  • Working knowledge of AfterEffects, InDesign, Illustrator;
  • Social Media;
  • Online Media;
  • Videography and Photography;
  • Skilled at problem-solving and troubleshooting;
  • Able to be flexible and adaptable.

Physical Requirements:

  • Occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds;
  • Frequently walk and stand during a shift;
  • Occasionally kneel;
  • Frequently push and pull objects;
  • Frequently rotate upper trunk to the right or left while sitting or standing;
  • Reach above, at or below shoulder height;
  • Frequently handle objects;
  • Frequently crouch or stoop.
