More about the position:
This Development Manager position is a multidisciplinary position supporting various fundraising activities for the National Ranching Heritage Center at Texas Tech University and Ranching Heritage Association to include donor prospecting, qualification and stewardship; special events; database management; direct communications; fundraising volunteer management and other fundraising activities.

The appropriate candidate will manage multiple priorities simultaneously and enjoy outreach and relationship building. The Development Manager is a strategic thinker who communicates professionally and effectively with coworkers, donors and stakeholders. This person is a team player with energy and drive. This role requires a high level of independence, professionalism, diligence, organization, discretion, and resourcefulness while working to help keep fundraising on schedule and progressing with a high level of visibility and momentum to achieve fundraising goals.

The Development Manager will be working within a Development team actively fundraising within a capital campaign and for major projects; events; education and historical preservation initiatives; legacy giving; and annual funds. This person will also interact with and manage processes related to the Texas Tech University Office of Advancement and Texas Tech University System Institutional Advancement.

Duties:
Database Management and Administration

This position supports database and administrative duties, which include maintaining accurate records of donors, stakeholders, and fundraising volunteers; generating timely and appropriate recognition and impact communications; and developing and implementing donor queries, reports and correspondence.

The Development Manager will work closely with the Development team and stakeholders, donors, and fundraising volunteers in scheduling visits, meetings, events, tours, etc. This includes making reservations, travel arrangements, and managing invitations with attention to detail and follow-up.

Development

The Development Manager will be expected to actively assist the Development team in managing a portfolio of donors through stewardship and engagement. The Development Manager will work with the Development team to identify, qualify and conduct outreach regarding prospective individuals and organizations. They will be a key player in cultivating and sustaining relationships through excellent service and communication, as well as maintaining in-depth knowledge of the organization’s donors and their interests.

The Development Manager is expected to participate in and attend key community events which foster organizational relationships and engage in outreach opportunities as identified. This person will also provide support to event committees.

This person will serve as a liaison with assigned community groups and maintain open communication and working relationships with staff, fundraising volunteers, donors and community stakeholders.

This position will participate in the development of annual plans and reports, as well as strategies for fundraising events and development activities, for the organization.

Special Events and Fundraisers

This position may serve as the onsite liaison for assigned events and will work with Development staff to implement key event goals, coordinate logistics, and assist with promotion and marketing. Alongside the Development Team, this person will help to secure event sponsorships and in-kind contributions. The Development Manager may coordinate, recruit, train and supervise fundraising volunteers, as directed.

Outstanding organizational skills are a must. Some travel to fundraising-related events or meetings is required. Some weekend and evening work is required.

Qualifications:
– Experience with fundraising, contact management and database software preferred.
– Must be able to learn and effectively manage Blackbaud and proprietary fundraising software.
– Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business or nonprofit management, sales or a related program of study, or equivalent experience.
– Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and computer/office equipment operation.
– Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
– Excellent organizational and time management skills.
– Ability to successfully work independently and as a member of a team.
– Demonstrated knowledge of fundraising best practices for nonprofit agencies and organizations.
– Ability to organize and coordinate activities with multiple deadlines.
