Summary

Assist Civic Center Director in the planning, direction, and organization of the administrative and operational activities at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center and Moonlight Musicals Amphitheater.

 

Essential Functions

  • Plan, organize, coordinate, and supervise activities of all facility sections engaged in providing internal departmental functions;
  • Assist in the evaluation of activities and service performed and prepare recommendations for changes and improvements, and setting of standards and priorities based on facility and customer needs;
  • Recommend policies and procedures for the department;
  • Select, train, and supervise personnel directly or through subordinate supervisors;
  • Monitor performance standards, evaluate the performance of subordinate staff;
  • Monitor work priorities, goals, objectives, and schedules;
  • Coordinate and monitor purchases of equipment and supplies;
  • Coordinate and monitor capital projects in progress;
  • Assist in preparation of the budget and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports;
  • Handle event problems and requests;
  • Perform show settlements with promoters;
  • Develop, implement, and monitor long and short range maintenance plans.  Prepare specifications for replacement of building equipment, or for major repairs and renovations;
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of the relationships between our venues and various vendors; enforcing applicable ordinances, laws, and venue policies;
  • Evaluate security and house staffing needs for events, insures arrangements are made;
  • Assist in promoting use of facility and negotiating lease agreements in absence of Manager;
  • Perform related duties as directed.

 

Qualifications

Completion of a college degree in business administration or a related field with an additional three to five years of experience supervising or managing the operations of a convention center, arena, or theater; or any combination of relevant education and experience which provides the following:

Valid Current Driver’s License

 

Knowledge and Abilities

Knowledge of:

  • Principles and practices of convention facility management, to include scheduling, ticketing, food safety, alcoholic beverages, theatrical sound and lighting, operations, maintenance, and life safety regulations;
  • Budget preparation, accounting procedures, and capital project administration;
  • Principles and practices of management.

Ability to:

  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with convention planners and event promoters, board members, and convention and tourism officials;
  • Manage and supervise a staff of employees;
  • Monitor compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations;
  • Implement departmental policies and procedures;
  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing;
  • Administer operating and capital project budgets.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequently lift and carry up to 10 pounds;
  • Occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds;
  • Occasionally stand and walk during the shift;
  • Occasionally bend during the shift;
  • Frequently push and pull objects;
  • Frequently rotate upper trunk to the left or right while sitting or standing;
  • Frequently place arms below should height.
