EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY IN THE LCD

The School of Music is seeking an energetic, experienced, and dedicated new team member to lead the student advising area.

 

Major/Essential Functions

  • Familiar with current catalog and previous catalogs & changes that may occur.
  • Facilitate incoming undergraduate students via Red Raider Orientation.
  • Liaise with Graduate School.
  • Updates student handbook & updates to degree plan requirements as needed.
  • Provide special advisement beyond the normal academic & program advisement typical of the academic program assistant in a specialized area.
  • Liaison with professional schools to determine requirements & maintain information to aid students in the preparation of their application packages.
  • Implement policies & confirm with policy changes and revised degree requirements; Supervise the gathering & keeping of data current regarding specialized academic programs and degree requirements.
  • Responsible for scheduling classes using Registrar Dashboard & maintaining the courses that are offered each semester.
  • Lead advising team.
  • Administer regulations regarding academic program requirements set forth by the TCVPA and the University.
  • Counsel with students concerning degree requirements, declaration of majors, transfers, grade point requirements, course substitutions, probation, and or suspension & registration.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree plus three years supervisory experience; OR a combination of education and/or supervisory experience to equal seven years.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, two years of academic advising program development, or administrative experience in a special college or specialized area of academic program assistant to obtain advanced knowledge related to the program.
  • Ability to work under conditions of high stress and high volume during peak periods. Ability to work independently and in a group environment.
  • Ability to provide advising to both traditional-aged and adults in a higher education setting.
  • Must be able to keep up to date on current/changes in course curriculum/requirements and internal/external educational services in order to respond to student needs.

 

Other Information

  • Salary starts at $48,000/yr
  • This is a 12-month, exempt position.
