Thursday, April 25th

Please join the School of Art and the TTU Art History Faculty as we welcome Dr. Caroline Koncz from Angelo State University as she discusses Early Modern Venice and The Islamic World: A Few Cross-Cultural Case Studies.

The lecture starts at 5:00pm in Room B-01 and is free and open to the public.
We hope you will join us as we learn more about how early modern Venice fashioned their identity as a nation through their interactions with the Mamluks and Ottomans, both in art and life. Through a series of case studies, we will examine how Venetians in the Renaissance attempted to convey their cultural hegemony in Europe through the rendering of artworks that displayed their close contact and knowledge of these two nations.
