CALL FOR ARTISTS – ART BARRICADE PROJECT

LHUCA is seeking 6 to 12 qualified artists or collaborative artist teams to paint barricades to be used during LHUCA’s monthly First Friday Art Trail. Barricades will be used to help close streets to vehicle traffic and promote safety and walkability during FFAT.

PROJECT DETAILS: This project is made possible through an Arts Respond Project Grant from the Texas Commission for the Arts and matching funds from Civic Lubbock, Inc. Cultural Arts Grant and LHUCA. Applications are due April 18, 2022. Selected artists will be notified by April 20, 2022. Selected artists will have from April 26- May 4, 2022 to paint barricades.

ELIGIBILITY: Artists must be 18 years of age or older or have a guardian representative to apply. Artist teams are welcome to apply.

ARTIST STIPEND: Artist or artist teams will receive a $150 stipend for each painted barricade. Artists may apply for up to two barricades. The following supplies will also be provided by LHUCA: paint, brushes, and barricade.

• Drawing or digital design of the proposed barricade design or concept. Note: Please see example barricade below.

• 3 to 5 examples of previously completed work that demonstrates design and painting skills.

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: All materials must be received by 11:59 p.m. CST on April 18, 2022. Incomplete or late submissions will not be considered.
