Founded in 2017, TechTones A Cappella is Texas Tech University’s premiere contemporary pop a cappella group. This is not your mother’s “glee club” – TechTones is a co-ed group of vocalists that bring intense energy to performances and an edge to their arrangements, sound, and style. We are pleased to present a mixture of choreography and vocal performances from Texas Tech’s best to give the audience an authentic “Pitch Perfect” experience. TechTones has performed at arts festivals, charity events, grand openings, and several other public and private events across Lubbock. TechTones also competes annually in the International Competition of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCAs), where we have received awards such as Best Soloist and Outstanding Arrangement. We have worked tirelessly to deliver some of our best mash-ups yet in an all-encompassing spring showcase for one night only! For music-lovers, this is a performance you will not want to miss.

Our organization is comprised solely of Texas Tech students with a passion to sing, perform and make purely vocally-based music. Every year, our repertoire spans a wide variety of contemporary artists and genres. As we take the stage, we hope to impact the Lubbock community by entertaining the audience with powerful ballads, heartfelt performances, and some all-time favorite show tunes featuring big-name artists like Queen, Lady Gaga, Hozier and more! This year, TechTones has teamed up with the local band, Velvet Grove, to deliver the ultimate musical experience. Velvet Grove brings a “groovy” experience through covers from throughout the decades and authentic originals that reflect the inspirations of this musically diverse group. The band is comprised of Arle Rossnagel on vocals, Quinn Edgar on guitar, Jahir Tovar on bass and Matthew Silhan on drums. The young musicians are hoping to create a memorable experience for the audience. They are working on their debut album planned to release by the end of 2023. All proceeds from this event go towards supporting TechTones in our pursuits to pave the road for a legendary program at Texas Tech for years to come.
